How to Sleep Deeper (and Better)

Million of adults are not getting enough deep sleep every night. If you feel tired when you wake up or have a lack of energy throughout the day, there is a good chance that your sleep could be better, and deeper.

Don’t be a victim of your sleep cycle, any longer. Take control of your sleep, and take back your life. Let’s take a closer look at some helpful that will let you get the sleep you need for a healthier life.

Not Getting Enough Deep Sleep

Are you feeling the effects of not getting enough deep sleep? Adults, in general, need 7-9 hours of sleep each night. How many do you get?

There are five levels of sleep with the third level marking the beginning of deeper sleep. As we age we tend to go into deeper levels of sleep less often, yet we can try to remedy that.

Get a Massage!

They say that getting a massage is equivalent to 7-8 hours of sleep. Not that it is feasible to get a massage every day, but once a month is highly recommended for those with sleep disorders.

For those who are not a fan of massage, Reiki, Acupuncture, and Reflexology work well for relaxing and promoting better and deeper sleep.

Eliminate Noise & Light

While some people insist on having music play or the TV on while they are falling asleep, others can not deal with any noise at bedtime.

Using a white noise machine instead of music or television is a smoother steady sound to lull you into a deeper sleep. Eliminating light can be as easy as hanging dark curtains to block out street lamps, and sunlight from pouring into your room before you are ready to get up.

Testing Your Mattress

Is your mattress hurting your sleep? Sleeping on the wrong mattress can be one of the reasons for not getting enough deep sleep.

Mattresses that are too firm can be challenging to get comfortable on. Likewise, a mattress that is too soft can not be supportive enough to let us drift off into a deep sleep.

Just because your mattress isn’t perfect, it doesn’t mean that replacing it is the only solution. A mattress that is too firm can be saved by a cushioned mattress topper, and a soft mattress can be flipped, or have a firmer boxspring placed underneath.

Stick to a Strict Diet

What we put into our bodies has a direct effect on how we sleep. Caffeine and sugar are obvious stimulants that can keep you up at night if we overindulge in them, or partake too close to our bedtime.

Alcohol and drug use may influence sleep negatively or positively, but for most people, it could mean interrupting sleep as the body processes the substance.

Chose a time at night that makes sense for your lifestyle to stop eating and drinking anything but water.

Natural Sleeping Aids

Relaxing from the inside out can be helped with natural remedies such as chamomile tea, Sipping a warm cup of tea with honey in itself is a calming moment in an otherwise hectic day. Not a fan of chamomile? Any mild herbal tea should de, as herbal tea is caffeine-free.

Another miracle-working natural sleep aid is melatonin. Our bodies produce melatonin to regulate the sleep cycle. Some bodies do not produce enough melatonin to give us deep sleep which is when a dietary supplement like melatonin gummies comes in handy.

Not getting enough deep sleep can be a thing of the past if you try one, or all of these suggestions. Sleep is important to your body’s healing, and also your mental, and physical health. Don’t let another night pass by without getting the deep sleep you want, and need.
